- brief documentation
-
- This program is free. It traces the Mandelbrot set and the corresponding Julia
- sets. It works on a Macintosh with a 68020 (or better) and a math
- coprocessor (FPU). The graphics are black and white.
-
- The program's operation is rather straightforward, and therefore this
- documentation simply provides a few remarks and tips:
-
- • The Mandelbrot set is drawn automatically on launching the application.
- • Windows can be resized, even if the grow icon is not displayed. Just click
- in the lower right corner of the windows as usual.
- • Zooming in is done by selecting a region with the mouse. Zooming out by
- command-S.
- • Zooming a lot requires the maximum number of iterations to be increased (see
- the parameters menu) in order for the set image to stay crisp.
- • In order to draw the Julia set corresponding to a point of the Mandelbrot set
- by the method of reversed images (this is faster than scanning, but only draws
- the boundary of the set) you hold the command key and click the
- mouse at the point of the Mandelbrot set that your are interested in. It can
- also be done by selecting the corresponding item in the File menu.
- • If the Julia set window is active, the clicking the mouse while holding the
- command key will trace the forward orbit (8 points) of the point the mouse is
- sitting on. Numbers will be drawn at the positions of the forward images, and
- they will move as the mouse is moved.
- • The programs works in the background, and is 32-bit clean.
- • The only way to save your pictures is to use a screen capture utility.
- Maybe a future version (if the author has time) will allow to save plots.
-
- Questions and comments are welcome.
